Services

From first consult to intervention.

Consultation, imaging, monitoring and hospital procedures — arranged so your GP stays in the picture.

On site

Testing in the rooms

Echocardiograms, stress echoes, treadmill tests and ECGs are performed in clinic. Interventional procedures take place in hospital, with follow-up back in the rooms.

Cardiac consultation

A consultation is the starting point for most care. We take a careful history, review your investigations, and set out a plan you and your GP can follow — whether that is reassurance, further testing, or treatment.

Echocardiography

Transthoracic echocardiography assesses heart muscle, valves, and pressures. Studies are performed by our echo technicians — David, James and Jo — working alongside the doctors.

Stress echocardiography

Stress echocardiography combines exercise (or a medication stress) with ultrasound, a particular interest of Dr Blenkhorn. It is a useful, radiation-free way to investigate chest pain and known coronary disease.

Exercise stress testing

A supervised treadmill test remains a practical first investigation for many patients. It is performed on site and reported by the consulting cardiologist.

ECG and heart-rhythm monitoring

We record and interpret resting ECGs and arrange ambulatory monitoring when symptoms are intermittent. Results are reviewed with a clear plan for your GP.

Pacemaker and defibrillator clinic

We host regular clinics with pacemaker and defibrillator company technicians for interrogation, programming, and follow-up of implanted devices.

Pulmonary hypertension

Pulmonary hypertension is a special interest of Dr Blenkhorn. Assessment typically includes echocardiography, and coordination with regional and tertiary services where needed.

CT coronary angiography

Dr Gangasandra has fellowship training in CT coronary angiography from McMaster University. CTCA is used to investigate chest pain and to map coronary anatomy without an invasive angiogram when that is the right test.

Interventional cardiology

Hospital-based interventional procedures are provided by Dr Gangasandra and Dr Mazhar. This includes angiograms, angioplasty with and without stenting, complex coronary intervention, and imaging with IVUS, OCT and FFR. Care is delivered at Lismore Base Hospital and John Flynn Private Hospital.

Clinical trials

The practice takes part in cardiology clinical trials. If a study is suitable, your cardiologist will discuss it with you — participation is always voluntary.

For referring doctors

Please send a current referral by electronic referral (Specialists & Referrals), fax, or with the patient. Include the clinical question, a medication list, and copies of recent ECGs or imaging where you have them.
